Robin Robinson 65 years old killed in hit and run

 

 

 

 

 

 

 Police in west suburban Downers Grove said a 65-year-old woman died as a result of a tragic hit-and-run collision Thursday night. About 9:11 p.m., police officials said, the Downers Grove police responded to a call and reached the site on the 600-block of Ogden Avenue. The police staff found the victim's body lying on the road when they reached the site and confirmed the sad news of her death.

Preliminary investigation revealed the victim was struck by a dark-colored SUV, believed to be a small to midsize model of a Honda or Acura. The striking vehicle did not remain on scene and was seen heading westbound on Ogden Avenue. Detectives are investigating if the striking SUV may have sustained damage, possibly to the front of the vehicle or its wheels, as a result of this collision.

The victim has been identified as Robin Robinson. Her family said she most likely was coming home from shopping when the tragedy struck. The family is in mourning and does question the circumstances of the accident.

 "I am in shock right now,"  Annie Moore the victims sister told reporters. "I don't even have the words to say. It's hard to hear she's dead, let alone killed in a hit-and-run. And that we have no answers, really." 

The Downers Grove Police Department, along with the DuPage Major Crash Reconstruction Team, is actively investigating the recent crash that received quite a bit of attention. To that end, an effort to garner as much information as possible, authorities were able to confirm investigators have been out working throughout the night. Their focus was on conducting an extensive search of the area surrounding the crash site. One of the important activities they have conducted is the search for any available video recording that would offer more information regarding the incidence. This kind of detailed scrutiny of the environs is important toward establishing what happened and the causes of the accident. The investigators have been working with the promise of establishing all the available facts so that the case can be fully understood.
