It was a heinous attack at about 5:30 in the morning on April 14. The victim, who was a woman, walked north on Carpenter Street from the vicinity. She had been walking, minding her business, until the suspect came from behind and approached her in a forcible manner. In a brazen turn of events, he grasped the woman and pulled her into a nearby alleyway, attempting to overpower her.
Even in view of the sudden, brutal attack, the woman was very brave. She bit his finger in self-defense against the attacker, momentarily freeing herself from his grasp.
